Such a neat place! The Ranger's know all the information about the history of the area and can answer almost any question you might have that how the Portage railroad worked who traveled it and also how it's affected the region. Very cool stop!

Took the haunted Halloween walk. It was educational not scary. It was about two miles long and took an hour.

Loved it. After visiting Horseshoe Curve down the road, this exceeded my expectations. Nice visitor center and beautifully designed, easy-to-use walkways through the forest to the railroad, power-house, and old tavern. Best of all, it was FREE! I pushed someone in a wheelchair so everything was accessible and graded. The movie about the history was really well done. I'm really glad I stopped!

Nice spot for some history! The Ranger usually on site is do nice. If you have kids ask him for a pin if he hadnt already offered.

I have been hearing that the movie starring the decorated Edgar West is up for Oscar nomination, and I don't really know why it hasn't won yet. This film takes the greatest elements of the entertainment industry and compiles them into a 29 minute collage that has been sent from the heavens above. I have yet to find a competitor for this film. If you leave the theater dissatisfied, than you don't believe in magic you muggle! The only reason they could not swing DiCaprio is because of creative conflicts, as West's all-encompassing performance takes a thinking-man's drama to a whole new level, and it takes a dedicated film critic to see the beauty within it. Visiting the site without experiencing this instant classic would be the equivalent to using the Holy Grail as coffee mug. 5 stars or bust.
